“Finding Your Person”: How to Find a Board Approved Supervisor in Australia

The right Board Approved Supervisor should offer more than box-ticking. Good supervision supports competence, confidence, ethics, formulation, and professional identity.

What should you look for?

Practical fit

  • Board Approved Supervisor status
  • Relevant experience
  • Clear availability
  • Understanding of your pathway
  • Documentation and review processes

Relational fit

  • Warmth and professionalism
  • Honest but respectful feedback
  • Support for reflective practice
  • Capacity to discuss uncertainty
  • A style that helps you grow

At Choice Point Psychology, supervision is offered with a focus on reflective practice, case formulation, ethical decision-making, neuroaffirming practice, and sustainable professional development.

“Good supervision is not just someone checking your work. It is someone helping you become clearer, safer, braver, and more yourself as a psychologist.”
